I was recently talking to a neighbor who mentioned that she has an extreme problem with setting alarms on her phone to wake up every day.
She has to set many alarms every afternoon, but she will still sleep through all of them.
If she does manage to find an alarm that reasonablely riles him from her deep sleep, she develops such an adverse reaction to the alarm that she can’t sleep at night. She just lies awake and dreads the alarming sound cutting through her silent home office. Honestly, this is the first time that I had thought about an alarm in a long time. I do not use a conventional alarm, because my body will naturally wake up as soon as I smell a fresh cup of coffee. Thankfully, my Heating and Air Conditioning system is set up in a way that this is never a problem. Whoever originally installed our Heating and Cooling plan, along with the HVAC duct that links our furnace and a/c unit to every room, positions of the air return vent in a strange location. The air return is right in the home office, over one of the countertops. The air vent functions to draw up our indoor air and return it to the furnace or a/c, depending on the heating or cooling setting being engaged. Then, the air is cleaned and retreated before circulating back through the air ducts. I am not sure why they chose this position for the air return vent in our house, but it has a beneficial side effect for a troubled sleeper like me, then every day when my wife gets up and makes coffee, the smell of her fresh joe wafts right through the air return vent, passes through the Heating and Air Conditioning system, and is redistributed through the HVAC duct. I wake up every afternoon like the star of a Folgers commercial.
