My parents are in the process of selling their house and need to make some improvements before they can put it on the market. The concern is, my siblings want them to update the HVAC system. My dad thinks that the old system is great and that it should be the responsibility of the new clients to do that if they choose. My friend and I have tried to tell them that they can get a better price for the household with a newer and more efficient heating and cooling system but he just won’t listen to reason. I am the one that is stuck in the middle of the debate because I can relate to both sides of the argument. I feel for my parents because they are elderly and just want to sell the household and move on. My siblings feel that if they get more for the household they will have more resources to live off of in the end. Both of them are particularly valid reasons and I just want most people to be delighted. I have even spoken with the local HVAC dealers and gotten estimates for my parents so that when the time comes they will be able to make an informed decision, however knowing all the facts is important, especially when you are trying to get dad to put any more currency into a household that he is leaving. Mom says she doesn’t care either way she will just be delighted to sell the locale and move on. It is way too much toil for them at this point and she just wants to be able to do the things she wants to do instead of worrying about it.
