Making more money than I did as a veterinarian

Making more money than I did as a veterinarian

When I first transferred into my 4-year University to pursue my bachelor degree in animal science, I was pretty shocked that faculty immediately started trying to deter us from completing our degree program.

The professors immediately were telling us how difficult the career was and how much student debt you would acquire along the way.

Personally, I thought that they were trying to push us into their own unique realms of research, so I didn’t pay much attention to all of their warnings. In hindsight, I wish that I had taken them more seriously right at the beginning. I did complete my degree and I went on to become a full-fledged veterinarian. Let me tell you, it was a massive mistake. After five years I quit the industry and went back to school. This time, I obtained a basic Heating and Cooling certification from my local trade school. The air quality and ventilation certification only took me 18 months to complete. In contrast, my Veterinary degree took 10 years from my life. My brand new HVAC technician certification qualified me to immediately start working at any reputable ventilation specialist and cooling company in town. On the other hand, I still had to find years of internships before getting a job out of vet school. These days, I travel all over the county and help people 2 immediately solve their indoor air quality concerns. People are always happy to see me and are satisfied with the HVAC repairs that I complete for them. There are never any emotional days or times to console my customers. With my HVAC certification, I finally make a steady paycheck and feel like I’m actually helping people. I’ll take HVAC over Veterinary work any day.
