Air ducts were patched with cardboard and super glue

When I moved into this house I immediately knew that something was wrong.

It took me a while to figure out exactly what it was, but once I made the discovery, there was no going back.

Since the first night that I moved in here, I knew that the indoor air temperature and air quality seemed off. All day and night, the indoor air temperature was fluctuating from uneven hot and cold temperatures. It felt like there were drafts in every room, but I knew for a fact that the house was well sealed. I had a full home inspection, and the contractor had insisted that my insulation and sealing were in extremely good condition. Therefore, I had no idea what was going on with my indoor air quality on such a regular basis. The only thing I knew for a fact was how expensive my monthly energy bill turned out every time. It seems like no matter how much or how little I used the HVAC system, I was still paying the same amount for my electricity bill each month. I finally got frustrated one day and called out a heating and cooling technician to investigate the mystery of my terrible indoor air. That’s when I found out the cause of all of my temperature concerns and had a new problem to deal with – a full air duct replacement. When the HVAC technician arrived at my house he immediately asked if he could inspect the ductwork. Apparently, living in an older home means that you have an increased susceptibility to broken air ducts. It didn’t take him more than two minutes to discover and diagnose my air quality conundrum; the air ducts were literally held together with cardboard and super glue. I should have hired this HVAC worker instead of the home inspector.
