I think people are learning a lot about themselves during this recent quarantine.
Nobody could have foreseen this pandemic rising up and stalling out life the way that it has.
In response, the entire population has come to terms with some unblessed realizations about themselves. Namely, that they can’t lay being alone and undistracted all afternoon long. In my own life, I have come to understand that when left to my own devices I am too cheerful to stay inside. The only uncomfortable realization is, apparently I am a lot smellier than I ever realized. For months I have been locked up inside of my home with only my indoor air. I have been using the central heating and cooling system pretty constantly because the outdoor climate has been unevenly hot and cold depending on the afternoon. I’ve been switching back and forth from the furnace to the a/c and I’ve been rather comfortable with my indoor air handling devices running the show. However, I absolutely did not realize how much my indoor air was starting to smell. Because it has been so sealed off from fresh outdoor air, my indoor environment was getting pretty dank. I did not realize that this odor problem was occurring until I truly left the home this week to go for a walk. I appreciated the fresh, cool air of the day. When I returned to my house, I was shocked to walk inside and smell my indoor air with a new perspective. Apparently I’ve been residing in the artificial indoor air for so long that I became immune to the airborne smells. I turned off the Heating and Air Conditioning system from the smart thermostat and quickly opened my windows for natural ventilation while I pondered “Have I constantly been this smelly?”
