For several years my daughter tried to convince me to move to the South.
- She was always calling and bragging about her lack of terrible winter temperatures.
She told me that she would never move back North again because she enjoyed living in a climate where they didn’t experience horrendous sub-zero temperatures and snow every day for months on end. I knew that she was living in a better climate than I was able to experience… But I was very reluctant to pack up my life and move anyways. Honestly, I was worried about the cost of air conditioning rather than heating. I knew that the climate in her area was often very hot and humid. This meant that she had to run her indoor air temperature control system just as often, but for the central cooling system to handle her oppressive heat. After several years of putting off the big move I finally pulled the trigger 2 years ago. I have to say, this was the best decision I ever made. Not only is the normal climate much better than before, but my air conditioning system really hasn’t been expensive. I should have moved much sooner. When I got here I was pleased to find a house located right near a local trade school. As an unexpected benefit to my relocation, I found that there were many heating, cooling, and ventilation repair professors who needed HVAC systems to practice on with their students. To this day I haven’t paid for a single air conditioning repair or maintenance service. I wish I had followed my daughter’s climate-driven advice sooner.
