Stuck in the middle of a debate can lead to trouble

My parents are in the process of selling their home and need to make some improvements before they can put it on the market.

  • The problem is, my siblings want them to replace the HVAC system.

My dad thinks that the old system is fine and that it should be the responsibility of the new buyers to do that if they choose. We have tried to tell them that they can get a better price for the house with a newer and more efficient heating and cooling system but he just won’t listen to reason. I am the one that is stuck in the middle of the debate because I can relate to both sides of the argument. I feel for my parents because they are elderly and just want to sell the house and move on. My siblings feel that if they get more for the house they will have more resources to live off of in the end. Both of them are very valid reasons and I just want everyone to be happy. I have even spoken with the local HVAC dealers and gotten estimates for my parents so that when the time comes they will be able to make an informed decision. Knowing all the facts is important, especially when you are trying to get dad to put any more money into a house that he is leaving. Mom says she doesn’t care either way she will just be glad to sell the place and move on. It is way too much work for them at this point and she just wants to be able to do the things she wants to do instead of worrying about it.
