My brother is a pretty handy guy and handles most of his household repairs himself.
I guess it is entirely cool that he is brave enough to tackle just about anything and wish I had his mechanical ability.
The only fault he has is that he fails to study all the instruction prior to starting a project. If he orders something that needs to be assembled he just takes out all the parts and starts putting it together regardless of the order. This has led to quite a bit of frustration over the years. His latest thing that he messed up was the installation of his modern Smart Thermostat. He went out and bought one from the local hardware store and didn’t bother to see if it would even labor with his system. Once he got it household he unlinked the old one, wired the modern one, and then got exasperated that it wouldn’t respond to the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system or the wireless. He called for tech support and they said that he should have bought a weird model. He then had to disconnect it and return it to the store. When he told me of his tale of trouble I recommended that he contact his local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor and have them come out to install one. They not only have professionals trained to do the task however they also carry the ones that will labor with your system. Wasting your time and currency on things that will not labor for you is senseless, especially when there are trained professionals out there to help you every step of the way.
